The National Innovation Visa (NIV), subclass 858, is a direct permanent residence pathway and replaced the Global Talent visa for new applications.
The earlier Global Talent route placed more emphasis on the income threshold. NIV gives more weight to exceptional achievements, awards, sector impact, and nomination strength.
NIV also introduces a clearer priority structure, including all-sector priority cases and defined Tier-1 and Tier-2 sectors.
