UK to Replace BRP Cards with e-Visas by 2025: What Students Need to Know
The UK Government has urging all those across the UK, keeping physical immigration document to take immediate action to transition to an eVisa. This step is one the part of the plans to digitize the UK border and immigration system.
The government has already announced that from Jan 1, 2025, only Digital Visas will be issued. All the physical documents, including BRP cards and stamped passports (visa vigilante), will be replaced by digital e-Visas or starting 1 January 2025. The current BRP cards will no longer stay valid after 31 December 2024. All current BRP holders are required to ensure that their permit status is recorded in the Home Office system digitally.
Now with e-Visas, manual, on-the-spot physical checks, using passport stamps will become unnecessary and overall immigration compliance will shift online.
